Selah Academy is a Christ-centered, literature-rich, discovery-based school, inspired by both Maria Montessori and Charlotte Mason. We are looking for an assistant who understands our creative education model and who would be excited to assist teachers in all three multi-age classrooms: Preschool, Primary (PK4-Kindergarten), and Lower Elementary (Grades 1-3). 

Selah rhythms include spiritual formation in the form of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, walking downtown field trips, art, music, indoor and outdoor play, sports, cooking, chores, group games, reading great books aloud, and helping students form good daily habits of learning. 

A solid candidate would possess a dedication to Jesus Christ and a love for children, as well as a willingness to participate in every aspect of Selah’s rhythms, including some administrative tasks. 

 Hours range from 20-25 hours weekly, Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., September-May. 

Qualifications:

• Commitment to Jesus Christ and the Christian faith

• Experience working with children

• Ability to communicate well with children and teachers

• Administrative / Organizational skills

Preferred:

• Basic knowledge of discovery-based / play-based learning

• Basic familiarity with a Montessori educational philosophy

• Basic familiarity with Charlotte Mason's philosophy of education

• Appreciation of sports and games as learning tools

• Appreciation for community engagement

• Conversational knowledge of Spanish
